When hundreds of virtual machines share the same hardware, every scan becomes everybody's problem. Checking each machine on its own creates exactly the load virtualisation projects are meant to avoid: the same operating system files get scanned again and again, and the resources are missing where they are needed — in the applications. GravityZone's module for virtualised environments addresses that.

It is hypervisor-independent. Only a lean agent stays inside the guest; the scanning is handled by dedicated Security Virtual Appliances at host level. Patented heuristics and multi-level caching keep identical files from being checked more than once. CPU, memory and IOPS stay available for the workloads, and latency drops.

Virtualised Windows and Linux guests are supported on VMware, Citrix, Microsoft Hyper-V, KVM, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and Oracle, along with virtual desktops. A management layer provides consolidated real-time inventory regardless of the hypervisor in use. Licensing runs per CPU and term rather than per guest: with high consolidation the cost model stays predictable even as more machines are added.
